Platelet Rich Plasma for Hair Regrowth
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) has been used in medicine for the last 2 decades. The use of PRP to treat hair loss is a revolutionary, new treatment. Since its introduction, anecdotal responses rates of more than 70% have been reported. PRP therapy involves drawing your blood, and centrifuging it to separate out the platelet rich plasma. This is re-injected at the level of your follicles to stimulate the follicles to grow.
Since it is your own blood there is no risk of the body rejecting the cells, and minimal risk of allergy. Dr. Keene’s protocol is to start with 3 treatments scheduled 4 to 6 weeks apart. Then it will take an additional 6 months to allow for regrowth. Touchup treatments at least yearly will help maintain results.
